An interesting setting. The Destruction of the nucleus of the Spheres would have not only terminated the availability of Magic (Spell and magic item), but cut clerics off from their Immortals. No Clerics, No Wizards, No magic items.

I suspect it would have evolved the setting into one where there would have been a need for a God of Magic which is where all the other AD&D Settings seem to have gone - leaving Mystara Behind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2750858425589737642.post-5814476847898276992012-09-26T17:23:08.277+01:002012-09-26T17:23:08.277+01:00My group has just played through a modified versio...My group has just played through a modified version of the first part of Castle Caldwell (renamed Kalten's Keep). It's not that interesting, but it was the first adventure for the party and I used the AFF random dungeon generator to build a forest-dungeon (Kalten's Copse) to set it in. I'm still undecided about how much of Mystara to incorporate. I'll almost certainly tone down the power-level and reduce the various 'nations' to distinct human cultures with plenty of wilderness and worse between the outposts of civilization. And I'll probably change all the names... But there will be Mystara in this game, providing my players avoid another TPK! I am 100% behind all the points you mention, although with the caveat on #1 that I've never been able to drop anachronistic cultures/lands next to one another without a good explanation. The way Mystara did it left no explanation I was aware of, other than to make eah Gaz supplement easy to use as you wished. The anthropologist in me demands that if I stick vikings next to arabs that I at least figure out how and why they got there, though.
